Need some advice

March 13th, 2006 2 comments

While this problem doesn’t get in the way, I find it incredibly annoying. I’m sure I could just create a new profile and start all over again, but that solution to things is getting annoying.

The problem is definitely somewhere in my configuration. In Firefox 1.5 on my linux laptop, when I go to freshmeat everything works fine. With the exception of viewing screenshots on a project page. I can view these fine from my news reader and Mozilla, in Firefox it is a broken image. When I pull the url and view the image, I get the following

400 Bad Request

Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request.

Alright, so obviously it is just my firefox config. I’ve removed any extensions that I would think would be in the way (don’t tell me to remove sessionsaver, everyone knows I rely on that one) with no luck at avoiding the issue. Doing a google search hasn’t come up with much either (who would have thought that using the phrases ‘firefox’, ‘freshmeat’, ‘screenshot’, ‘bad request’ would lead to no answers). The only lead I found was on this unanswered Opera thread.

So, has anyone every had to deal with such an issue? Does anyone have any ideas on how I might be able to see the request that I send out? Using the Web Developer extension, I can see the headers of the response, but that does no good. Any ideas short of creating a new profile?

Where do you see yourself….

February 25th, 2006 2 comments

This question has been going through my mind for weeks, and I can’t even begin to come up with an answer. So it’s my time to turn it around on the world.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I really hope to get some responses to this one. Especially from the people that graduated last May. Answers from the LUG members would be interesting too.

If you don’t want to comment, feel free to email me: jax AT parazoid DOT net.

Am I being mocked by a fortune cookie?

February 14th, 2006 Comments off

When I read my fortune cookie tonight, my first reaction was that my cookie is making fun of me. What do you think?

Many get advice, but only wise men profit by it.

Also, the word of the day is stoodint.

Almost did things today

February 5th, 2006 Comments off

Like most weeks, I had a list of things I wanted to get done this Saturday. Although I wasn’t overly productive today, I did manage to get some stuff done. This week I started using gdm (graphical login manager). So today I finished a theme for it using a background from Applegeeks. Nothing fancy, but it does get the point across to people, and I always appreciate Hawk’s art.

I meant to work on my resume and play with planetplanet today as well, but I got sidetracked with reading about vim and mutt. There’s always tomorrow.

Migration complete

January 22nd, 2006 1 comment

As you can tell, I migrated my blog. I’m now using Serendipity, and things seem to be ok. I don’t really like the themes that come with it, but I haven’t looked at the additional ones from their CVS repository yet. This will do for now. And I managed to write a script to convert my previous blog entries to the new format. Dropped one and had to manually alter a few, but that was my fault.
